Antique doesn’t have the same name recall as more famous destinations on Panay Island such as Iloilo and Boracay. However, this low-key appeal makes it a place to visit for those who want to get away from the crowds and the urban jungle. The province has a laidback appeal and beautiful countryside.
The province is accessible via Iloilo City, Kalibo, and Caticlan – all three have their own airports. Once you arrive in any of them, make your way to the Ceres Bus Terminal. There you’ll find a number of buses going to or passing by different parts of Antique such as Culasi or San Jose.

Enjoy a Kawa Hot Bath
If you want to have a unique experience, dip into the hot waters of a kawa hot bath. This relaxing activity helps your body revitalize after a day of exploring the province’s attractions. You can find the bathing spot in Tibiao. There is also a fish spa if you’re interested in dipping your feet in it as well.
Visit Mararison Island
If you’re looking for an uncrowded beach and island destination, Mararison is the place to go. It’s rolling hills and sweeping bird’s eye views are simply stunning. Its azure waters will entice you to swim and its idyllic atmosphere lets you forget all your worries. You have the option to go as a day trip or spend the night on the island. A boat that will take you to Mararison and back costs approximately P750 for up to five people. You’ll save more money if you go with a group. You also have to pay a mandatory guide fee of P250 and a P30 environmental fee. Your jump-off point for the island is Culasi Port.
See the Rice Terraces of Antique
Antique has its own version of the rice terraces you’ll see in some parts of Northern Luzon. Go on a leisurely hike to get beautiful views of the terraces. Your jump-off point to this attraction is the village of General Fullon.
Go on a Trip to Seco Island
Seco Island is a remote attraction that takes a couple of hours to reach. However, those that make the trip are rewarded with a stunning, bone-white sand shore and aquamarine waters surrounding it. Its remoteness is part of its appeal and charm. There are few people going because of its distance. Laze on the beach, go swimming, sunbathe or go kitesurfing during your visit.
See the Largest Flower in the World
You don’t have to travel to another country to see this rare flower, you can see the Rafflesia or corpse flower in Antique! Unlike in Malaysia, you can easily get a glimpse of the Rafflesia without much hiking. The site to see this is at San Remigio, near a paved road. It’s only a few minutes’ walk away.
Cool Off at Malumpati Cold Spring
After a hot day of exploring, you’d surely want to cool off. A dip in Malumpati Cold Spring is just what you need. Relax and let your body revitalize itself in the waters. There are huts nearby for you to chill and do nothing in before visiting the province’s other attractions.
Go Chasing Waterfalls
The province is also blessed with beautiful waterfalls where visitors can take a dip in or hike to. A popular one is Bugtong Bato Falls. This two-tiered natural wonder has a pool with cool waters. Dip into it to douse the heat of the afternoon. Located in Tibiao, all it takes is a 20 to 30 minutes’ trek to reach. You have the option to go up the upper tier if you have the stamina and time.
Another waterfall you can include in your itinerary is Igpasungaw. This waterfall in Sebaste takes up to an hour to reach once you start your trek from the jump-off point. The curtain-like cascade is a sight to behold. Swim in its natural pool before heading out.
Enjoy Tubing in Bugang River
If you want to enjoy a slow day, go tubing on the calm waters of Bugang River. The river is said to be one of the cleanest in the country. Have a relaxing time on a tube while you enjoy the beautiful scenery around you.
Where to Stay in Antique
There are a number of accommodations in different parts of the province. If you want to stay near the beach, there are homestays on Mararison Island. Another option is to stay in a resort near Pandan Beach where you can also watch the sunrise. You can also find cheap accommodation in Tibiao after tubing and hiking.
