HOW TO GET TO ANTIQUE (From Manila, Iloilo, and Kalibo)

Antique is a province that many overlook because most that visit Panay Island go to more popular destinations such as Iloilo and Boracay. However, the province has many unspoiled attractions and exciting activities that will fill your itinerary. The most well-known activity in Antique is taking a dip in a kawa hot bath. Other than this, you can also try eco-tourism activities the local government is pushing. Some of these include tubing, rafting, swimming, and hiking just to name a few.

Antique has a rough but beautiful landscape that you would want to take pictures of constantly. The rolling hills, fields, and beaches will make you stop and stare. Seco Island is a destination that is difficult to reach because of the distance and potential rough weather, but once you get there, it will be all worth it. The island has powdery, white sand and cerulean waters that will entice you to jump in.

Mararison Island is also another must whenever you visit Antique. It is a short boat ride away from the small town of Culasi. It provides visitors with stunning vistas of the sea and the landscape. These are only some of the attractions and things to do while in this province.

How to Get to Antique

From Manila via Antique Airport

Antique Airport or also known as Evelio Javier Airport is located at San Jose de Buenavista, the capital of the province. Philippine Airlines has three flights weekly to Antique via Clark, these are on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. This is an ideal route for those who want to see Antique’s southern destinations which include the towns of San Remigio, Bugasong, San Jose, Anini-y, Belison, Tobias Fornier, Valderrama, Sibalom, and Hamtic.

Other than the towns mentioned above, you can also explore Miag-ao, Guimbal, and San Joaquin in southern Iloilo because they are convenient to reach and are closer to Antique Airport.

At the airport you have the option to go by tricycle for P10/person or hire one for P50 to P100, depending on the location of your destination and the pieces of luggage you have.

From Iloilo

Go to Molo Terminal then get on a van to Antique. Travel time is about 3 hours. The fare is P180-200.

If you’re planning to go to the towns in the north of Antique from Iloilo, you can board a bus traveling to Culasi, Pandan or Caticlan. Travel time is approximately 4-5 hours.

From Kalibo

Go to Ceres Bus Terminal in Kalibo. Get on a Pandan or San Jose bound bus (this will depend on your final stop). Alight at your stop. If you’re not sure about where to get off, tell the conductor where you’re going and ask them to tell you when you need to alight. The travel time takes approximately 2-3 hours. The fare is approximately P100.

From Caticlan

If you want to visit Antique and Boracay, Caticlan is a possible starting point.
Board a tricycle to reach Caticlan Jetty Port. Around the jetty port area, look for the Ceres buses going to Antique. Alight at your stop. If you’re unsure where to alight, ask the conductor or driver to tell you when it’s time to get off. Travel time takes around 2-3 hours.


Where to Stay in Antique

Antique is a rising star in tourism as more tourists are looking for alternative destinations that have fewer crowds and many things to do. There are many places to stay during your trip to this province despite the fact that development is in its early stages. If you want more conveniences and transportation options, staying in San Jose (the capital) is an option. The town has more shops and places to eat, and there are buses and jeeps going in different directions.

Mararison Island has basic guesthouses for visitors who don’t mind roughing it out for a night or so just to be near the beach.
