MANILA TO BATAAN in 1 HOUR: How to Travel by Ferry

Last updated: 1 March 2024

Located in Central Luzon, the province of Bataan is laden with history, notably during World War II when the Filipino and American forces were overpowered by the Japanese. Today, Bataan houses many industrial businesses, contributing to its economy. Aside from this, the tourism industry is also on the rise, featuring its historical sites, churches, natural attractions (mountains, falls, beaches and coves), and the popular open-air museum — Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar.

Opening the province to more business opportunities and tourism, the Provincial Government of Bataan and Magic Leaf Marine Logistics Corporation launched a joint project — 1Bataan Integrated Transport System (1BITS) — to bring the province closer to Metro Manila. The transport system offers ferry services between Bataan and Manila, cutting the travel time from 3-4 hours (by land) to around an hour! We’ve recently tried this ferry service and we found it very convenient. Here are some of the things you need to know.

UPDATE: Good news! As of November 2023, the 1Bataan Integrated Transport System ferry services resumed operation after the temporary suspension last March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
