Boracay

A June 5 article of the Manila Bulletin reported that Korean and Chinese nationals top the lists of the most foreign tourists who visited the Boracay Island in Aklan from January to April of this year. This report was said to had been based on the records of the Tourism Department.
Records show that 29,379 Koreans arrived in Boracay in the first four months. Almost 7000 in April alone.
Meanwhile, 14,382 tourists from mainland China flew from Beijing to Kalibo, Aklan directly. Over 3000 in April alone. Thanks to Kalibo International Airport.
Europeans also make a big fraction with 13,889 tourists from Europe visiting the island in the same period.
The good news is that the number of tourists who set foot on Boracay increased by 16.9% in first quarter 2010. Over 291,000 domestic and foreign tourists visited this famous Philippine island as of April, far higher than last year’s almost 251,000.
You can scream “overrated” all you want but Boracay really is making waves in Philippine tourism.

This is the most beautiful sunset that I’ve seen so far. Taken last August 2009 in the beaches of Boracay, Philippines, it just proves that the best beach in the world is in Boracay. By the way, these pictures are taken by Thor Erickson.

Another magnificent beach shots from Boracay. Thanks Roslyn for sharing these beach pictures.
Most of these photos were taken during my last day on November 01, on a self-initiated trek which covered areas roughly from Station 1, 2 and 3.
Taken October 31, 2009. Portrait of Lia in Starbucks Boracay, Station 2. I think she looks nice here with her beach babe get-up and the windswept hair in the afternoon sun.
Taken October 31, 2009, Halloween night. The Ferris wheel at D’Mall. I know it’s not a beach photo but I love it’s colored lights and the almost full moon above it.
Taken November 01, 2009. The “not-so-beach-bum”, Station 3; busy, busy…
