QUICK GUIDE: Anilao Beach in Mabini, Batangas

2019 • 07 • 15

Anilao is more well-known as a diving mecca than a beach paradise. But hidden in between its rocky promontories are short stretches of white sand that, although not as fine as those you will find in Boracay or Bohol, are soft enough for an affair with the sun. Sharp cliffs frame a gorgeous view of the sun as it dives into Balayan Bay. All these within three hours from Manila.

Material: Sand and shingle beach.

Nearest airport: Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport – NAIA)

How to get there: From Manila, ride the bus to Batangas City to the Grand Terminal (2-3 hours, P150-P180). Take a jeepney going to Anilao Port (P37). From here, tricycles are available to take you to your resort.

Don’t miss: Mt. Gulugod Baboy, an easy climb. Its summit treats hikers to a fantastic view of the bay and nearby islands. You might also want to try scuba diving! Beginner courses are available from many of the dive shops dotting its coastline.

If you have more time: Sombrero Island, Masasa Beach, and Sepoc Point are just a boat ride away. These beaches are part of the neighboring municipality of Tingloy, but have always welcomed the Anilao-bound trekkers and divers who also want a time to laze on the sand.
